Despite the receding water level at Pazhayaseevaram and Vengudi, two wells recently commissioned at Thirumukkoodal, upstream of the Cheyyar river bed, are supporting the Alandur-Pallavaram Combined Water Supply scheme. The level at the wells is over eight metres. the wells provide 20 lakh litres of water a day to the network. The TWAD board has also drawn up a contingency plan to instal 'gensets' at the headworks for a three month period from June this year.
