Geothermal power cuts Philippine fuel-oil bill

Increased electricity generation from geothermal plants saved the Philippines nearly 15 million barrels in fuel-oil imports in 1998, a Department of Energy official said. This is in line with the government's policy " to intensify exploration of geothermal (energy), " and " to pursue utilization of natural gas and large-scale use of renewable resources," another official energy said.
