German power supplier costs leap on eco-law

German power suppliers are paying 80 percent more for eco-power following the introduction of the Renewable Energy Law on April 1, the Association of German Electricity Suppliers (VDEW) said. "German power suppliers are being forced to pay around 2.4 billion marks for non-competitive power from reneawable energy, which is a good 80 percent more than in 1999," VDEW said in a statement.
