Ghana gives new thrust to saving mother's lives

The primary killer of Ghananian women aged 15 to 44 years is unsafe abortion. High death rates have spurred the government into action. A programme to train midwives to deal with emergencies arising from unsafe abortions is saving many women an expensive - and sometimes dangerous - journey to the nearest doctor. Some believe this process could revolutionise Ghana's helthcare.
