"Globalisation is neither a juggernaut nor a train which one has to board or be left out. It is a process', said Delhi University vice-chancellor Deepak Nayyar, "which has to be used for the benefit of people.' Briefing newsmen about the National Dialogue, organised under the aegis of the World Commission on the Social Dimension of Globalisation here on Wednesday, Dr Nayyar said one of the common concerns expressed by the participants during the consultation was that efforts should be made to guard against adverse fallout of globalisation. Quoting former President K R Narayan, he said, "there is a need to have zebra crossings on autobahns for safety of pedestrians. Globalisation must meet the needs of the people.'
