The first power plant in the private sector in Tamil Nadu was dedicated to the nation by the State Chief Minister, Mr. M. Karunanidhi. Put up by GMR Vasavi Power Corporation Ltd, a business house of Andhra Pradesh, the 200 MW power plant, costing over Rs 800 crores, will use low sulphur heavy stock (LSHS) as fuel, supplied by Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd.
