A special committee, formed to deal with issues related to the East Kolkata Wetland, today cleared Kolkata Municipal Corporation's proposal for setting up a water treatment plant near Dhapa. But a few preconditions were laid down for the civic body to abide by during the construction of the plant on the wetland. The plant, to be set up near Dhapa, will cost Rs 30 crore. The plant will be spread over five acre of land. The project proposes to supply safe drinking water to arsenic-prone areas in the city.
