In three years from now, drinking water will be aplenty in Hyderabad. The water board is planning to take up the Godavari Water Project besides speeding up works relating to Phase-II of the Krishna Water Project.The new project envisages lifting and pumping of Godavari water from Mid Manair Dam in Karimnagar district. The officials hope that the Godavari project would augment water supply to Hyderabad and the surrounding municipalities by 180 MGD. Though the cost of the project is prohibitive - Rs 2,500 crore - the State Government is keen on providing resources to the water board to rid the twin cities of water problem forever.
