The Union environment ministry has come down heavily on the Gouripore power project, indicating that it might even withdraw the green clearance given last year. The West Bengal venture is being jointly promoted by the Boston-based Thermo Ecotek Corporation and the G.P Birla group, with the former having the predominant holding.
