The Union power industry has drawn up a vision plan for the power sector which includes setting up additional capacity of around 80,000 mw in the next two years, an improved thermal -hydel mix, better plant load factor and enhanced private sector participation in generation, transmission and distribution. The power sector which has been grappling with an acute power shortage in the past few years is expected to improve significantly with the new capacities both in state-run companies and the private sector.
