Govt fritters away chances of dialogue on big dams

It could have been an opportunity for mandarins of the government of India to at least begin some kind of a dialogue on the contentious issue of big dams. But in a predictably sarkari attitude, officials of the Union ministry of water resources chose to stay away from the two-day-long consultations on the report of the World Commission on Dams (WCD) which concluded here last Friday.
