Peasants from the drought-prone areas of Sangli, Satara, Kolhapur and Solapur staged a demonstration on Tuesday to protest against the state government's water policy, which they feel has initiated privatisation of water resources. The peasants, owing allegiance to the Shramil Mukti Dal (SMD) , have called for a more equitable distribution of water.
