The Government has decided to float a special purpose vehicle under National Thermal Power Corporation to keep aside one per cent of the capital cost of new power plants for environmental protection and afforestation. The Power Minister, Mr. P.R. Kumaramangalam, said this while speaking at a conference on 'Power plant operation, efficiency and environmental protection'.
