Govt taking steps to make Tripura a model state: CM

Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar has said steps have been taken by his government to make Tripura a model state in terms of achieving self sufficiency in food grains production by 2010 and maximising ulitisation of central funds meant for the people. The state government is trying to ensure more power for the three-tier panchayats to act independently in formulating plan and speedy implementation of development activities in rural and tribal areas, he said inaugurating the new block headquarters at Kathalaia in West Tripura district.
