Government assured the Assembly that it would soon take up the task of extending borders of 340-odd villages in Lal Dora under provisions of the Land Reforms Act. The assurances came at the end of a heated discussion in the Assembly on extension of village boundaries. The discussion digressed to imposition of house tax on villages, and speakers from both sides opposed the move to tax villagers. Villagers would be forced to take to arms and dacoity if the governments continue to take away their lands, drive away their cattle, and, furthermore, burden them with house tax, MLAs said.
