The National Green Tribunal (NGT), Southern Bench, has refused to stop the laying of 400 kV power line being laid by Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. between Mysore and Kozhikode in Kerala through the forests near Coorg. The project had stirred protests in Coorg considering safety issues and felling of large number of trees. The petitioner, Coorg Wildlife society had sought the NGT to quash the approval granted by the Karnataka government on March 1, 2012, providing clearance to the project.
