Greenpeace protests at Australia oil shale project

Southern Pacific Petroleum NL said the presence of Greenpeace protesters had not disrupted plans to commission its oil shale demonstration plant near Gladstone on the central Queensland coast. "It has been an inconvenience to the commissioning of the plant and we have used the time to work on other areas of the plant," Southern Pacific executive director Victor Kuss told Reuters. Kuss said feeding shale into the plant was temporarily stopped on Monday after Greenpeace activists tied themselves to the plant's conveyor and feeding section. Other protesters prevented trucks from entering the site.
