Environmental campaigners in Hong Kong marched into Toys 'R' Us yesterday and swept off the shelves toys they claim are toxic, saying the store ignored a call to stop selling the products. The protesters demanded Toys 'R' Us recall all toys made of polyvinyl chloride (PVC) from its stores, claiming the chemical contained cancer-causing "phthalates". Greenpeace members dressed in orange overalls raided the Ocean Terminal branch and removed five types of infant toys, which they said contained more than 20 per cent phthalate. The legal allowance is three per cent.
