Grim childhood expreinces are tied to later illness

People who grow up in families with an alcoholic, violent or mentally ill member, usually a parent, are more likely to suffer from such serious physical problems as heart, lung and liver disease; cancer, or injuries, a study of more than 9,500 residents of San Diego has found. The study was conducted by Dr. Vincent Felitti, chief of preventice medicine at the Southern California Permanente Medical Group in San Diego and his colleagues.
