Despite floods, cyclones, earthquakes and riots, Gujarat's race for prosperity has continued unabated and it has emerged economically stronger in the decade just gone by as compared to the decade ending 1991. This is indicated by teh first tranche of hte decennial census report made public at a press conference. The census for the decade also noted that Gujarat had become more prone to religiousity, substantiated by the fact that there was an increase in the number of places of workship.
