A Centre-state show-down that threatened to mar the Union government's policies in nascent business of coal bed methane (CBM) and liquefied natural gas (LNG) has been averted. Following intense persuasion from the Centre, Gujarat has in principle agreed not to go ahead with its policy for exploration of CBM and put on hold issuing fresh licenses under its draft LNG policy.
