New Delhi: The Central Empowered Committee (CEC) has started the process of identifying constructions encroaching on the Aravali range in Faridabad.
In the past, several farmhouses have been demolished in Gurgaon for being on forest land and for not having the relevant clearances.
Senior Haryana forest department officials said the issue in these cases is confined to use of notified forest-land for non-forest purpose. So, in case demolition of all constructions is ordered, the land owners would continue to own the land but would have to convert it to forest land as per the provisions of the Punjab Land Preservation Act.
Forest conservator of Gurgaon range R P Balwan, another member of the CEC, said they would finalise the Gurgaon report in time.
