The Haleji lake in Pakistan is facing a double threat, on one hand the water level is going down and on the other its water surface is being covered up with weeds. The lake, which has been declared a wildlife sanctuary, is situated about 80 kilometres from the city of Karachi on the national highway and it plays host to over 100,000 migratory water fowls of over 230 species annually who leave their colder central Asian habitats to spend their winters in comparatively warmer environment here.
