Scientists and other experts who advise the federal government on gene therapy issues rejected calls for a moratorium on experiments on Friday, but also warned researchers and patients against placing undue faith in the field.Jeremy Rifkin, a writer and president of the Foundation on Economic Trends, who has campaigned against many aspects of biotechnology, on Friday urged the Recombinant DNA Advisory Committee of the National Institutes of Health to vote for a temporary halt of gene therapy experiments.
