The Madhya Pradesh government has proposed to set up food parks in three districts of the state. Harda district is also in the plan along with Bhopal and Ratlam district where the food parks would be set up.
Talking to our correspondent, member of Narmada Valley Rural Development Foundation Trust Rajiv Baheti said that noted industrialists of India have shown interest to set up agriculture based industries in the food park.
The food park of Harda district would be established at village Ajnas Raiyat, some 15 km away from the district headquarter, on 60 acre land. Baheti said that a tender in this regard was published in Economic Times, Mumbai, on April 5.
It is worth mentioning that Kisan clubs are being set up in entire district Harda by the trust. A target of establishing 400 such Kisan clubs has been set for the district, out of which nearly 50 clubs have been set up so far.
Baheti said that, with the help of these Kisan clubs, nearly 600 farmers of the area would be taken on visits in the neighbouring state Maharashtra's different places for training. This initiative has started reflecting good results, as the farmers are making changes in the crop - cycle. Farmers have shown interest in planting various horticulture crops like banana, pomegranate, ginger, pepper, papaya, orange, mango, cotton and sugarcane. This development has encouraged the top industrialists of the country to set up their ventures in Harda district.
