Haryana clears decks for more buses, double-deckers in Gurgaon

And as if to compensate for the delay, the bus network might just come with an icing: double-decker buses ahead of the Commonwealth Games in 2010. The Haryana transport department is in the process of scrutinising the feasibility of its transport plans in Gurgaon and has commissioned a study to understand requirements of the Millennium City, top officials involved in the plans said. The department, these officials said, plans to introduce a range of public transport vehicles: from mini-buses to semi-low floor buses. And the double-deckers, they added, would be the next step, depending on the feasibility. State Transport Commissioner Anand Mohan Sharan said the Government plans to assign the task of preparing the
