Issuing a final ultimatum to the Congress led DF government in Maharashtra, noted social worker Anna Hazare deferred his proposed agitation till August 15 to highlight corruption and various "social issues'. The anti-corruption crusader had earlier threatened to resort to a stringent agitation, commencing from Feb 20, at the historical August Kranti Maidan. The announcement about deferment of the agitation was made by Hazare following his over two-hour-long meeting with the Chief Minister, Sushilkumar Shinde, at Mantralaya in Mumbai. Hazare is fighting for right to information, more powers to the gramsabhas and rehabilitation of the project affected people. He has also submitted nearly 737 cases of corruption to the government.
