The Gujarat High Court, acting on a PIL filed by one Vinay Puri against Alembic Pharmaceuticals over contamination of groundwater, issued notices to the pharma company, Gujarat government and GPCB. Farmers of Paneval village in Halol taluka of the Panchamahals district led by Puri approached the High Court following the contamination of groundwater in the village due to untreated effluents discharged by the pharmaceutical company, which is into manufacturing of API and bulk drugs.
