New Delhi: Delhi High Court on Tuesday asked the New Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC) to inform it about the number of cars that are parked on an average in Khan Market area and what the capacity of the parking area.

HC gave time till Thursday to NDMC to apprise it on these twin issues while hearing a plea filed by the Khan Market traders against NDMC’s decision to end free parking in the area. HC’s directions came after NDMC informed it that there was 5,700sqm parking area in Khan Market but failed to state the number of vehicles that are parked in the market and in which areas.

Earlier, HC had sought a site plan of the market from NDMC to sort out parking problems, saying, “You (NDMC) submit your site plan demarcating the area for paid parking and for free parking.”

HC also asked the traders and the NDMC to consider various options, including managing of the parking lots jointly, to avoid a confrontation. TNN
