The Supreme Court has cautioned high courts against granting interim stay of contracts awarded by the Government or public authorities for the construction of developmental projects since such 'stay' stopped or held up those projects causing inconvenience to the people. The court issued the stern caution while setting aside Bombay High Court's 'stay' of the Maharashtra State Electricity Board's grant of contract to Raunaq International Ltd for auxiliary construction work in setting up two power units of 210 mw each, at Khaperkheda Thermal Power Station, Maharashtra.
