The Malaysian Government plans to initiate WHO's Healthy Cities programme in 33 urban centres by 2005 to curb growing health and social problems. Health Minister Datuk Chua Jui Meng said the programme was essential to ensure that rapid urbanisation did not result in unsanitary living conditions or lead to the spread of infectious diseases.
