Lucknow: The sweltering heat could have caused the death of peacocks in Farrukhabad division of UP forests. The forest officials have recovered two bodies and sent them for post-mortem. The report will come up with exact cause of death. In the meantime, forest officials are sticking to the opinion that peacocks could have died because of heatstroke.
The deaths were reported from Jindapur village in Kannauj sub-division on Saturday. The villagers had noticed the carcasses strewn under babool trees in the morning. Last month, four peacocks had died in the same area. The postmortem report had established heatstroke as the cause of death, leading forest officials to believe it to be the cause of death this time too.
