US-based food processing firm H.J. Heinz Co has announced that it is recalling its Heinz Beginner Strained Carrots baby food from Malaysian markets after traces of lead were detected. Thirty cases containing 720 jars of this baby food were shipped to Malaysia in the last few months. In a press release, the company's nutritional sciences director Dr David Yeung said symptoms from low-level lead exposure occur only after prolonged exposure.
