It may be a power backed diplomatic exercise but make little commericial sense. The cost of power indicated by Pakistan has emerged as a major stumbling block in importing the proposed 2000mw of power by India from across the border. Highly placed official sources told the The Financial Express that a tariff rate in the range of US cents 7.64 per kWh to 7.72 kWh has been offfered by Pakistan, which is almost three times higher, compared to the average rate of generation from the power stations of the National Thermal Power Stations.
