HIV drug trials on pregnant women soon

Supported by a fresh $200 million World Bank loan, India will begin clinical trials of the anti-HIV drug, AZT, on pregnant women this year, despite high costs and doubts as to its efficacy.Officials at the Union government's National Aids Control Organisation said the trials will be conducted in Mumbai and in Tamil Nadu and Kerala.
