Hokkaido residents to fund windmills for greener power

Marking the first attempt of its kind in Japan, a local nonprofit organization plans to establish a firm later this month to run a wind power plant in northern Hokkaido.Hokkaido Green Fund, which promotes the use of eco-friendly energy sources, plans to build windmills with a projected hourly generating capacity of 1,000 kw in the town of Hamatonbetsu facing the Sea of Okhotsk.
