HP clears Rs 1,245-cr industrial projects

The state-level Single Window Clearance and Monitoring Authority headed by Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal cleared eight new industrial proposals besides one expansion proposal, on Monday, entailing an investment of Rs 1,244.59 crore in the state. Officials in the industries department say the projects will generate employment potential for 1,860 people. The new proposals are from Micromax Energy Limited, carrying an investment of Rs 630 crore and generating employment for 615 people to manufacture solar energy cells; Cipla Limited, involving an investment of Rs 270 crore and generating additional employment for 800 people to manufacture pharmaceutical and herbal medicines. Another big investor Shivalik Bimetal Controls also got approval for a Rs 20.14 crore project, which will generate employment for 160 people and manufacture bonded clad plates; Sun Juice is to invest Rs 51.75 crore and generate employment for 79 people and set up facilities for juice and milk processing/packaging. Industries Minister Kishan Kapoor said constant monitoring of the industrial expansion progress would be done to ensure that the proposals cleared by the monitoring authority were implemented on the ground in the shortest possible time.
