Hungary to award power contracts

Hungarian utility Dunamenti Power, majority owned by Tractebel of Belgium, is favourite to win the contract to build a new 400MW coal-fired power station at a cost of $400m. Dunamenti, already Hungary's largest generating company with a combined capacity of almost 2,000MW, is understood ot have outdid German and US utilities in a tender for new generating capacity first launched in 1997.
