Gurgaon: Around 20 villages in Mehwat district near Gurgaon are continuing with illegal mining despite a ban by the Supreme Court and repeated reminders by the Punjab and Haryana High Court, conservator forest R P Balwan said after visiting these villages on Wednesday. According to Balwan, he found mining activities are being conducted much below the groundwater level at several places. This, he said, has created massive lakes with groundwater filled in them.
