The International Monetary Fund and World Bank responding to criticisms about the way they handeled the financial crisis of the 1990s, issued a joint declaration aimed at improving the way they worked together. The statement from James Wolfensohn, the World Bank president and Horst Kohler, the IMF managing director, represents an attempt to redefine their responsibilities and reduce a growing overlap that had become evident in recent years.
