Ramar Pillai, who made international headlines claiming he could turn water into a petrol-like fuel by adding herbs and a secret chemical, is back with his claims. Having failed to break through the barriers established by the scientific community and the red-tape of the government, the village inventor retreated into seclusion to carry on with his research before returning on Saturday to make a stronger claim. He now says that he is in a position to produce 50 litres of herbal fuel a day, commercially, at his pilot plant at suburban Virugambakkam in Chennai.
