In praise of DDT

This month, the first of more than 100 nations will sign the Convention on Persistent Organic Pollutants, which seeks to ban the production and use of 12 chemicals called the "dirty dozen" including PCBs and dioxin. One hard-won exception is for the continued public health use of DDT, principally against mosquitoes that spread malaria. (Editorial)
