Each year, during the height of winters, carbon monoxide poisoning causes a large number of unintentional deaths in the Capital because of careless use of room heaters, charcoal “angithis” and gas stoves, says Dr Manish Mohil, Consultant, Internal Medicine, G. M. Modi Hospital. According to him, a large number of people are usually treated annually for carbon monoxide poisoning in hospital emergency rooms, but it is believed that many more are misdiagnosed or never seek medical care and just wait for the inevitable.
