India poised to become wind 'superpower'

India is poised to become one of the world's "wind superpower" in the next millennium, with a target production of 20,000 MW of power from the unconventional energy source. Secretary, Department of Non-conventional Energy Sources, Mr. C.R. Kamalanathan, said India, currently producing 992 MW of wind power, ranks fourth in the world. Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh are at the forefront in this sector, he said.
