'Indian economy showing signs of growth'

The Indian economy has been showing good signs of growth and this has been reflected in the recently-released Global Competitiveness Report ranking India at 48 as against the last year's ranking of 57. "India is on the Global Agenda'' and "India is Good News''. This was stated by Colette Mathur, Director, World Economic Forum (WEF), at a press conference here today. She, along with Ashok Soota, president, CII, said the theme for the 18th three-day "India Economic Summit'' beginning here on November 24 is "India: 8 per cent Growth for 20 Years - How?'' According to Ms. Mathur, the theme for this year is in line with the Prime Minister's call for 8 per cent growth and the Planning Commission's recommendations for achieving this target in the Tenth Plan documen
