The State government as well as the ASEB are faced with huge losses of their revenues in the industrial belt of Umrangsho in North Cachar Hills district as several cement manufacturing units located in the area have closed down after a 7.5 MW transformer of the Kapili Hydel Project went out of order on March 26. As large parts of North Cachar Hills District, which are fed from the transformer are submerged in pitch darkness during the night since then, the total halt in production in the cement factories has forced out over 500 day -wage earners and their families out of jobs, according to reports recieved at Guwahati.
