The government on Saturday decided to accord 'infrastructure status' to the power transmission sector. At a high-level meeting chaired by finance minister Yashwant Sinha, it was also decided to clear several bottlenecks so that work on at least four power projects totalling about 4300 MW could take off by December 15 latest.
