The Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) AOC, Digboi, in the name of modernization has taken up one mega project-Hydertreated Unit around Digboi oil township, by endangering environment and completely destroying the habitat of few rare wildlife species, in blatant violation of the Forest (Conservation) Act 1980 and Environment (Protection) Act 1986, even as an alternative site was selected for the project.
