The Delhi Vidyut Board(DVB) intends to set up a 300 mw gas-based power plant after phasing out the existing thermal units of the Indraprastha Power Plant, known to contribute to city's pollution in no uncertain terms. The DVB has already written to the Union Power Ministry in this regard. In fact, the Environment Protection Authority (EPA) had recently asked the DVB to provide details as to why the Indraprastha thermal power plant can not be phased out. The authority told the DVB that the "power generation capacity of the plant was low while pollutant emission was too high".
