IPR continues to elude traditional knowledge

While the corporate world is gearing up for the Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) regime, serious doubts over the documentation processes on the traditional knowledge system seem to be hindering the start-up activities. Documentation of knowledge for public domain is one of the few steps initiated by the country to take care of cultural knowledge. Even while there is less cover for the country's traditional knowledge in the IPR regime, biopiracy is also one of the major concerns, especially in drugs and traditional practices, thus affecting the native communities in the country.
